A Great Start To 2020 At Our February Business After Hours

A great start to 2020 at our February Business After Hours

What a great start to the year with around 90 members and guests at the iconic Ranch Hotel. It was a time for regulars to catch up after the holidays, for first time visitors to realise how much fun we have at these events, and to launch the National Table Tennis Corporate Cup. Members and guests had a ball (pun definitely intended) playing table tennis on the night; there was quite a queue to have a game.

It was a busy evening, with the following speakers:

  • Tony Abboud, our President, who spoke about our 2020 vision;
  • Jan Bouhali, Economic Development Officer at the City of Ryde, who spoke about a number of working groups inclusing Women in Business, and Council’s vision for the year;
  • Dr Felix Lo of the Australian Asian Association of Bennelong, who spoke about the cancellation of the Lunar New Year Celebrations due to concerns over the Corona Virus out break but was pleased to announce that activities centered around the Table Tennis Corporate Cup would still be proceeding;
  • Rob Wilkinson of Ryde Sports Foundation, telling us about the Foundation’s 40th anniversary this year and also seeking support for another fabulous not for profit organisation in our area, Riding for the Disabled. You can sponsor a child there for $300 for a term’s riding lessons, which makes a huge difference to the children’s fitness, muscle tone and happiness.
  • Andrew Hill, our Vice-President, who spoke about the National Table Tennis Corporate Cup. Google is the driving force behind the Cup, which is launching in Macquarie Park. The finals will be played in Google’s Sydney headquarters later this year.

We welcomed the following new members:

Photos by Andrew Hill can be seen on our Facebook gallery and on his own gallery.

Stefan Sojka of Cyrius Media Group won the lucky draw prize – a bottle of Moet & Chandon.

Who was there?
